Strain
Held back from the glass so that a drink mixed with ice arrives without it - the last act of shaking or stirring, never a way of mixing in its own right. A Hawthorne strainer suits a shaker and a julep strainer a mixing glass; passing the drink through a second fine mesh as well - a fine or double strain - catches the ice shards and fruit pulp that the first one lets through.
