Ingredients
- 4.5clGold rum
The original calls for a light, clean Puerto Rican gold rum - it is the Jamaican's counterweight.
- 4.5clAged Jamaican rum
- 3clOverproof Demerara rum
- 2.3clLime juice
- 1.5clFalernum
- 1clGrapefruit juice
- 0.5clCinnamon syrup
- 0.5clGrenadine
- 6dropsPastis
Some recipes use absinthe instead - its wormwood is drier and more bitter, where pastis leans on liquorice and is sweeter.

Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender with a scoop of crushed ice.
- Flash-blend for no more than five seconds - any longer and it turns to slush.
- Or shake it hard with crushed ice and pour it unstrained, which is what Donn Beach came to do later.
- Pour into a footed pilsner and fill it up with crushed ice.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.
About 28.6 cl at 22%, equivalent to 15.5 cl of 40% spirit
